And so, here we go into specifics as to what you need to be eligible, what your academic requirements need to be, what would be your age limits, and what would be relaxations pertaining to each individual category.
What is IPMAT?
IPMAT, or Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test, is an entrance examination through which students can acquire an enrolment in management programmes of two degrees directly after the completion of Class 12. It is carried out by IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak and is conducted by some other participating institutes as well.
In contrast to the conventional MBA tracks, in this one, it is possible to pass over the bachelor level of education and go straight to school-college-India, one of the top management colleges in the country.
Why Is IPMAT Eligibility So Important?
The thing is that you might score well on the IPMAT, but in case you do not fulfill the admission requirements, all your work will be in vain. It will invalidate your application – without exception. This is why it is non-negotiable to know whether you qualify to register or not.
Minimum Education Requirements
- The Class 12th exam must be passed in 2024, 2025, or the candidate should be appearing in 2026.
- Any candidate passing Class 12th before 2024 shall not be eligible.
- The minimum passing year for Class 10th should be 2022 or later, depending on the academic.
Good news? There are no restrictions on your stream — Science, Commerce, Humanities — all are welcome. Even if you didn’t take Math in Class 12, you’re eligible.
Year of Passing Requirements
This section is one of the things that tend to puzzle students, so let us clarify it:
- Class 12 must be passed in 2024, 2025, 2026(appearing) upwards.
- Class 10 must be passed from the year 2022 onwards.
- If you completed your Class XII in the year 2023, or before — don’t panic, you’re ruled out for IPMAT 2026.
Age Limit Criteria
This one is strict. There’s no bending the rules here.
| Category | Date of Birth Requirement |
| General/OBC | Born on or after August 1, 2006 |
| SC/ST/PwD | Born on or after August 1, 2001 |
Even if you’re one day older, you’re out of the race. So, double-check your date of birth.
Quick Eligibility Summary Table
| Category | Class 10 Marks | Class 12 Marks | Date of Birth Requirement |
| General/OBC | Minimum 60% | Minimum 60% | Born on or after August 1, 2006 |
| SC/ST/PwD | Minimum 55% | Minimum 55% | Born on or after August 1, 2001 |
IPMAT Indore vs IPMAT Rohtak – A Quick Comparison
Though these two exams are admission tests of IPM, there is a small difference in the process of selection:
- IIM Indore: In the selection criteria, it considers Class 10 and 12 marks.
- IIM Rohtak: The priority is given primarily to IPMAT scores + Personal interview. The weightage of board marks is very minimal.
The eligibility criteria are still the same but the mode of short listing differs depending on the IIM.
Gap Year Students: What About Them?
Frowning that you have spent one or two years off after Class 12? No problem!
As long as:
- You meet the passing year criteria
- You meet the age limit
You’re still eligible. IPMAT doesn’t disqualify students who took a gap year.
Do Subjects Matter?
Nope. There are no restrictions on subjects.
- Did you not study Math in 12 th Standard? It is possible to apply.
- Which stream do you belong to (Arts or Commerce)? Go ahead.
It is just important to remember that the IPMAT test contains the Quantitative Aptitude aspect in it so you will have to be ready to crack it, no matter which your stream is.
Documents You’ll Need for Verification
Once the exam has been cleared, then the verification would be done. Ensure that you have the following documents:
- Mark Sheets of Class 10 and 12
- Birth Certificate or Government Issued ID (to prove DOB)
- Caste Certificate (if so)
- PwD Certificate (provided any)
The information on these should be the same as what you provided on registration lest you be disqualified.
Common Mistakes That Cost Students Eligibility
So these are called out:
- Whichever way you think, that 59.5 beats the same as 60 per cent- It does not. Boxes are precise.
- Under the hypothesis, Class 12 appearing is sufficient without DOB check- No.
- Thinking that only students of Science/Math can be admitted – Misconception.
Such misconceptions cost people their heartbreak annually. You should not be the one.
Can International Students Apply?
There are IIMs where the international students can apply by the use of SAT scores. However, they should be of the same academic and age background.
In case you are an international applicant, simply write to the IIM which you are applying to get the specific procedure.
Why You need to Check Eligibility Now
If you’re in Class 11 or early Class 12, this is the perfect time to check if you’re on track.
Knowing the eligibility criteria early:
- Helps you plan your board exam strategy
- Avoids surprises later
- Saves effort and heartbreak if you’re not eligible
Conclusion
The IPMAT 2026 eligibility rules are straightforward, but not negotiable. Even minor, time and cost-consuming mistakes are made by lots of students: being born a day later or by not reaching the correct percentage. Therefore, to make cracking IPMAT sound serious then you must first get the basics right.
Now that you know you qualify, then it is a matter of prep, practice and performance.
